THE J.A. WEDUM FOUNDATION is committed to students and parents

University Village is owned by the J.A. Wedum Foundation, a non-profit family foundation that has, as its main objective, to set the standard in quality housing for students, provide educational support to future generations and to impact the community through charitable giving. Members of the foundation are dedicated to providing safe and affordable living opportunities for students, and they have worked diligently over the years to keep that commitment to both students and their parents.

Staff members get to know many of our residents on a personal basis by making ourselves extremely available. The mission of our staff is one of integrity. We have a lot of experience in student housing and development, and we encourage students to learn how to be respectable residents. We take a vested interest in issues that affect our residents' daily lives - our doors are always open. We provide helpful Roommate Match services to assist individual renters in finding a roommate who fits well with their preferred living style and our professional staff offers guidance and assistance to resolve roommate differences.

UV strives to be responsive to the needs of residents by having staff members onsite. After hours, our staff can be reached by email or a 24 hour answering service. We also give out the cell phone number of the security patrol in case of an emergency. Maintenance issues may be communicated via online work orders, allowing us to handle them in a timely manner.

The J.A. Wedum Foundation also owns Keeler Apartments on the East Bank of the University of Minnesota's main campus. Profits from both University Village and Keeler are used to provide grants to organizations in our community. Each year, the foundation awards $30,000 in scholarships to residents of University Village and Keeler Apartments through its “Foundation for Education” program. In addition, the Foundation has provided support to several University of MN programs that were of particular interest to our residents.
